Walnut Creek is located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. Downtown Walnut Creek has a great blend of large familiar shopping store like Nieman Marcus, Tiffany’s, Macy’s and Nordstrom as well as small “mom and pop” businesses that are supported by the community. It has all the perks of a big city while still retaining that small town feel. Here, We Olive Walnut Creek owners, Christine & Mike Livitski share their best bets for spending a day in their corner of the East Bay.
What to eat…
We love Lark Creek, they have a terrific brunch menu and lovely atmosphere. Sasa has great sushi and Japanese-influenced small plates. Massimo’s is our favorite Italian spot – try the Northern Italian style pastas and roasted meats. For sweet treats, we love Lottie’s Creamery where everything is made in-house from the ice cream to the killer crunchy, buttery waffle cones. We’re also addicted to the Chocolate Sel Gris Cupcakes at Kara’s Cupcakes.
What to drink..
The Pyramid Alehouse offers a wide selection of seasonal beers, like their popular Apricot Ale and their Pyramid Sampler which is great while watching NFL football, or how about a Growler of beer “to go.”
What to do…
The Dean Lesher Center for the Arts is world-class performing arts destination, hosting musicals, symphony, and dance performances, and even a Newsmaker Series featuring speakers like Dan Rather and Madeline Albright. Heather Farms Park and Garden is a beautiful place for picnicking or strolling, but also hosts gardening and environmental education programs for all ages.
