We Olive and Wine Bar is OPEN in the Heights!  Specializing in olive oils, balsamic vinegars, dips, spreads, spices, sauces, and custom gifts, We Olive offers complimentary samples daily.  In addition to our retail store,  We Olive features domestic, small production wines, olive oil inspired small plates, and local craft beer enjoyed in our casually elegant wine bar or for retail purchase to share at home or at your next special event with friends.

 

Located in the 19^th Street Market Place Shopping Center, in the heart of Houston’s Historic Heights Shopping District, Luis and Amber Rabo opened We Olive & Wine Bar Houston in the Summer of 2017.  This is We Olive and Wine Bar’s second location in Texas (the first one is located just outside of Austin at the Hill Country Galleria).

Luis and Amber met at the University of Houston while attending graduate school.  After graduating and getting married, both worked their way up into high ranking management positions which took them to all parts of the country.  However, they eventually returned to Houston to raise their family.  Luis and Amber always aspired to have their own business and after considering several ideas, We Olive & Wine Bar provided a concept to showcase their passion for all things food and wine.

What sort of experience do you hope to offer your customers?

We hope to offer an upscale, gourmet food shopping experience that is laid back, educational, and tantalizes all the senses in a way that cannot be duplicated at a grocery store or via online purchase.  Every product we sell can be seen, smelled, touched, and tasted before purchase to find that perfect gift, cooking ingredient, or special wine.  Our sales associates have a tremendous amount of initial training and continual education they must go through for product knowledge, wine service, and food recipe preparation in order to deliver the best experience possible for our guests.  Finally, we want to share our recipes, wine tastings, and food centric events with our guests to keep them engaged and inspired to live a healthy lifestyle.

Why is The Heights a great place for We Olive?

For us, The Heights is a perfect place in Houston for a We Olive & Wine Bar.  We live in this community, we graduated from the University of Houston, our kids go to school in the area, and we attend church just a few minutes away from our location.  We know and love this neighborhood and feel that the combination of independent restaurants, historic homes, and the presence of unique, eclectic shopping in this area makes We Olive & Wine Bar an ideal fit for locals as well as visitors coming to this area.

Do you have any We Olive favorites?

The favorite We Olive combination at our house is the Basil Olive Oil and Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar.  When combined, they make a great vinaigrette that our kids love on sliced tomatoes, leafy salads, or on the side with roasted chicken.  Another favorite is the We Olive Balsamic Fig Almond Spread which we like to serve with a cheese board for any last minute get togethers or on a whole-wheat bagel.
