Nestled at the base where the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Santa Clara Valley meet, the town of Los Gatos is an idyllic location for families, foodies and friendly faces. Just 60 miles south of San Francisco, Los Gatos has so much to offer for residents and visitors alike. The epitome of small town charm surrounded by beautiful landscape in an area flush with food and wine destinations. General Manager, Amanda Sarich, has some favorite spots that are a must try in the area.
“The Los Gatos Creek trail is a 10 mile long trail that begins up the hill at the Lexington Reservoir overlooking the town of Los Gatos below and weaves right through the downtown. I usually hike up the trail a bit through town and then head off the path to visit Testarossa Winery for some local wine tasting! On my way back into town, I stop off at Oak & Rye. My favorite place for wood fired pizza with some unusual toppings and a post-hike cocktail!
For a night about town, my go-to dinner spot is Nick’s Next Door. Always a fun vibe and some seriously good food, too! The Los Gatos movie theater, newly renovated and updated with modern luxuries has that retro small town local theater look. I love to fully relax and watch movies in the upstairs theater/lounge area! I usually head over to We Olive right across the street and have glass of wine before the movie starts. The perfect ending would be a slice of the delicious Banana cake from Icing on the Cake.
On Sunday mornings, I usually grab a cup of coffee at Great Bear Coffee and walk over to the Farmers Market on the square. I love to pick up some seasonal veggies and taste some of the local honeys and check out some ingredients to use for dinner that night. On the walk back home from the famers market, a slight detour to C.B. Hannegan’s to watch some of the game on TV and enjoy a beer (or two!) rounds out the perfect weekend in town.
Some of my other favorite spots around town include Jack Rose Libation House, for out-of-this-world cocktail creations and homemade beef jerky; Enoteca La Storia, for the wine selection and the brand new Bywater, from the great mind behind Manresa. Oh, also, the croissants at Manresa bread. I am addicted to Manresa Bread. Cheers!”
