We Olive Salt Lake City was brought here by Utah native Stephanie Ennis and her two sons Nate and Josh Garcia. Learn more about the family and their plans for serving SLC here!
Stephanie is a BYU graduate, and has worked for Midwest Commercial Interiors as an account manager for nearly 30 years. She has helped design the interior of local companies such as Intermountain Health Care, Mountain America Federal Credit Union, and Primary Children’s Hospital. Stephanie discovered We Olive during a family vacation in La Jolla and instantly fell in love with the Stuffed Peppadew Peppers, Meyer Lemon Olive Oil, and Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar. During her free time Stephanie enjoys spoiling her two granddaughters, traveling with her longtime friend from college; Cynthia, and entertaining friends and family at her Sugarhouse home.
Nate graduated with his law degree from the University of Seattle, and started Nonprofit Legal Services of Utah along with being one of the principal owners of Garett and Garcia Law Firm in Salt Lake. Nate met his wife Allison James-Garcia while the two were interning in Washington DC for the Hinckley Institute of Politics, and were married a few years later. Allison is the program director for Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and they have two daughters, Hattie and Etta. Nate enjoys cooking with and for his family where he loves using We Olive’s Arbequina extra virgin olive oil to elevate his dishes even further. Nathan is a huge RSL fan, and has been a season ticket holder since the inaugural season. Nathan loves weekend outings with his family, trying new food, and University of Utah football.
Josh attended the French Culinary Institute in New York City where he learned under the tutelage of internationally renowned chefs Jacques Pepin, Jacques Torres, and Andre Soltner. Josh returned to Salt Lake City and spent over seven years with Gastronomy Inc. under the guidance of local restaurateur’s John Williams and Tom Guinney. During that time Josh became one of their youngest kitchen managers and bounced around their 8 restaurants across the Salt Lake Valley. He learned a great deal about providing top notch customer service and products while further developing his culinary skills. Since leaving Gastronomy, Josh returned to the University of Utah to earn a degree in entrepreneurship and began working on We Olive after his family trip to La Jolla. He enjoys using We Olive product at home either as a finishing oil, or making sauces and dressings with We Olive product. Josh is also a huge fan of RSL and Utah football, he likes spending his time with his two nieces and outside either golfing, hiking, fishing, camping, or just walking around.
What makes We Olive a good fit for you?
We Olive is a great fit for our family because of the different experiences each of us bring, and because of our general love of good food. Between Stephanie’s experience in design and retail, Josh’s culinary arts experience, and Nathan’s professional presence in the local community we are excited to bring a unique experience to our home state. Our family has always been brought around the dinner table and good food and we felt We Olive was perfect for our family because of these reasons.
What sort of experience do you hope to offer your customers?
We want our customers to have a unique, one of kind of experience. From the time you walk in to the time you leave, we want you to feel welcome into our family. If you are unaware of the flavor profiles of olive oil, or uncertain how to use it at home we want to share our knowledge with you at our olive oil tasting bar. Or if you are looking for a good glass of wine paired with one of our menu items featuring olive oil, we want to make sure it’s fresh and delicious so you will be encouraged to attempt it at home for your family and to become frequent visitors at our store to continue trying new items.
Do you have any favorite We Olive products?
Our family enjoys a multitude of We Olive products, from the stuffed peppadews, to all the different varieties of olive oil we carry. We enjoy making bread with the We Olive bread mix, eating it with many of the dips and sauces that We Olive makes like olive tapenade, and parmesan cheese dip. We like using the vinegars to add flavor to many dressings and sauces, along with pickling onions, radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Our family has truly become hooked on We Olive products.
