What to eat…
Nearby are several delectable possibilities for lunch or dinner: As casual as it comes, yet famous all over the country is our neighbor Taqueria Vallarta. We recommend Blue Agave for delicious Latin American dining, quaint, but always busy Cappricio’s for homemade Italian fare; the new Lure Fish House & Oyster Bar for modern, locally farmed seafood; and Bombay’s Bar & Grill has an astounding burger bar!
At Taqueria Vallarta, try the Carnitas tacos or any number of their famous, authentic soups; Burritos are for two. At Cappricio’s try the meatball sandwich or the Walnut salad for lunch and for dinner their Pasta Puttanesca is a favorite. At Lure’s the Bar Menu is available all day Sunday at Happy Hour prices. Any of the bar menu items is plenty large enough to satisfy as an entry. While we haven’t met a burger we didn’t like at Bombay Bar & Grill, our current faves are the Chuckwagon, the Upstream and the Steakhouse. Don’t miss the White Truffle Parmesan Fries!
What to drink…
Ventura has many fine drinking establishments. If it’s craft beers you’re after, Barrelhouse 101 and Anacapa Brewery are both great choices. Prime Steakhouse and The Wine Closet offer wonderful wine selections and wine events. The Tavern can’t be beat for its offering of artisan cocktails and relaxed atmosphere or Grapes and Hops for lively drinks and entertainment!
Any number of Belgian or craft brews from the States at Barrelhouse 101, Anacapa has a small but focused selection of house-brewed beers, and we love local wine from Ojai at The Wine Closet! The Tavern’s Barracho or Modern-Fashioned are amazing cocktails.
