Grand Opening Events for Saturday!

We Olive Los Gatos invites you to join us as we celebrate our official Grand Opening! We have lots of events and giveaways scheduled for what is sure to be a fun weekend. Come and join us for the party!

On Saturday the 30th, we kick off the festivities with a guided olive oil and food pairing class hosted by Lisa Pollack from the California Olive Oil Council. If you have ever wondered what makes extra virgin olive oil so special, Lisa will be here to explain all the reasons why we love our olive oils. She will lead you through the steps of tasting the oils while we provide some food pairings to show how a good oil can really elevate your meals. There will be a limited amount of seats for the class so call to reserve your space ahead of time.

Come Meet the Farmer! To follow up with the lesson on Extra Virgin Olive Oils, we are hosting several growers that will be tasting some of their brand new harvest oils and talking about the growing and milling procedures for producing California Extra Virgin Olive Oils. Art Kishiyama, from Olio Nuevo in Paso Robles will be bringing some bottles to sample. The miller at Seka Hills, David Olander, will also be stopping by with some new oils to taste. They will be in the store beginning at 11 am on Saturday and will be around all afternoon for you to stop by and try some new stuff while getting a chance to talk to the growers firsthand.

Come Meet the Winemaker! From 1-4pm on Saturday, Yannick and Susan, from Y. Rousseau Winery in Napa will be in the wine bar pouring tastes of some of their wines. They are going to be bringing down some extra special wines that we don’t normally have on our list and opening them up for all to taste! They will have extra bottles on hand for you to purchase and enjoy at home at a special price and you may even get them to sign the bottle for you!

Enjoy the Show! At 4:30pm, we have invited Master Sommelier and Sabreuse Catherine Fallis to join the party and kick off the evening with a Champagne Bottle Sabering Demonstration. She will be giving a brief lesson and tasting on the different types of sparkling wines found throughout the world and finishing her lesson with a show-stopping, crowd-pleasing and fun demonstration of how to open a bottle of Champagne the unconventional way… with a sword! Get your cameras ready for this awesome photo op and taste a little bubbly!

Paired up with our Champagne tasting and to round out the days events will be Richard Wesela, pastry chef at local restaurant, Nick’s on Main. He will making a dessert with some of our oils and vinegars to taste alongside your bubbles on our outdoor patio for the rest of the evening.
