We Olive’s Discover Cooking with California Olive Oil Recipe Contest is well under way and we are expecting big things from the competition this year! Each year we receive hundreds of inspired recipes featuring California’s best olive oil and we can’t wait to see what you are cooking up. Aside from the satisfaction of creating something delicious, you may be asking “What’s in it for me?” If you need some added motivation (beyond bragging rights) to enter our recipe contest, let us tempt you with an in-depth look at our grand prize.
We’ve tailored our top prize to be fit for a foodie. We’ll get you to Paso Robles, home of our first We Olive store, prime olive and grape growing country, and location of the 10th Annual Paso Robles Olive Festival. Once in Paso, you’ll be treated to a three-night stay in one of the luxury suites at the newly opened Sundance Bed & Breakfast. At Sundance, you’ll find that owners Alma & Neil have thoughtfully attended to every imaginable detail. From “Heavenly Beds” to plush organic towels to aromatherapy products, your suite will be well-appointed and have a gorgeous view of the Paso countryside. To get you ready for your full days of exploring and tasting your way around Paso, Alma (a classically trained chef with a stint working for Wolfgang Puck’s catering empire on her resumé) will prepare a three-course gourmet breakfast for you each morning. Think gooey sticky buns, creamy strawberry parfait, and savory waffles with smoked salmon, poached egg, and lemon oil. You’ll also be treated to a selection of red and white Central Coast wines with some light appetizers every afternoon between 5:00 and 6:00 pm in the Dining Room or out on the Patio. And this is all before you leave the B&B!
Once you step outside your world class accommodations, we’ve put together a weekend of tasting, touring, and VIP treatment that will show you the best of what Paso Robles has to offer. You’ll visit our friends at Kiler Ridge Olive Farm and Frantoio for a custom tour and tasting of their Tuscan style olive oils. We’ll send you to our favorite Paso Robles wineries so you can experience our other favorite fruit in the hands of some of the state’s best winemakers. You’ll have VIP access to the 10th Annual Paso Robles Olive Festival, which hosts olive growers and artisans from the region with plenty of delicious food and drink to be had. Hint: you’ll want to use the We Olive VIP tent as your home base for exploring the festival – it’s a great place to relax in the shade with a glass of wine in hand. You’ll also have a seat at the invitation only Growers Party following the Olive Festival. And if that weren’t enough, we’ll send you to our flagship We Olive store in downtown Paso Robles with cash (well, gift card) in hand to stock up on all your favorites that you tasted at the festival.
